NFL Power Rankings, Week 7: Giants fall after loss to Eagles

Week 7 NFL Power Rankings find the Giants falling after debacle in Philly

Evan Habeeb

A week ago the New York Giants had won three straight games and were beginning to get some respect in weekly NFL Power Rankings, even sneaking into the top half of rankings released by some media outlets. Let's take a look at this week's power rankings and see how big of a hit the Giants took after Sunday's 27-0 thrashing by the Philadelphia Eagles.

SB Nation.com drops the Giants two spots, placing them 16th this week after Big blue had risen to No. 14 a week ago.

Pat Kirwan of CBS Sports drops the Giants to No. 18 from No. 11. He writes:

That three-game winning streak the Giants were riding before visiting the Eagles had me fooled that this club was back on track. But that 27-0 shutout to the Eagles was a reality check.

The Washington Post drops the Giants from No. 13 to No. 17, and writes that the Giants "looked overmatched" against the Eagles.

Pro Football Talk places the Giants at No. 22, down from No. 19.

FOX Sports drops the Giants to No. 19, down from No. 14 a week ago.

Final thoughts

More important than the power rankings, the Giants' playoff chances took a big hit. The Giants have a lot of work to do to do, and not much time to do it, in order to get themselves back into the playoff conversation.
