New York Giants star wide receiver Victor Cruz was carted off the field during the third quarter Sunday night with an serious right knee injury. NBC sideline reporter Michele Tafoya said Cruz has a torn right patellar tendon.
Cruz was in obvious agony and sobbing as he was taken off the field on the cart. Media reports were that Cruz will spend the night in a Philadelphia hospital.
Cruz was injured on fourth-and-goal from the 3-yard line. He was targeted by Eli Manning and was open, but dropped the ball after apparently injuring the knee.
The injury to Cruz made a bad night worse for the Giants, who were trailing 20-0 when Cruz left the game.
Cruz has been the Giants' leading receiver for the past three seasons. He missed a third straight 1,000-yard season by two yards last season when he missed the final two games with a knee injury.
The Giants have already lost wide receiver Jerrel Jernigan for the season with a foot injury.
