Giants to interview former Texans QB coach Karl Dorrell for OC opening

The search for a new offensive coordinator continues, and the latest candidate to replace Kevin Gilbride will be former Houston Texans quarterback coach Karl Dorrell, ESPN reported.

Dorrell spent two seasons coaching Matt Schaub and Case Keenum under Gary Kubiak in Houston before getting the ax from new head coach Bill O'Brien. Dorrell played a key role in Schaub's spectacular 2012 season in which the Texans' signal-caller threw for 22 touchdowns, a 90.7 passer rating, a trip to the Pro Bowl and a spot in the postseason.

Previously, Dorrell coached Miami Dolphins quarterback Matt Moore to career-best marks in 2011. From 2008-10 he served as the Dolphins' wide receivers coach, helping Brandon Marshall and Davone Bess combine for the fourth-highest total in the league among duos.

Dorrell spent five years at the helm of UCLA, accumulating a 35-27 mark and leading the Bruins to a bowl appearance each year from 2003-07. In 2005, he was named the Pac-10 co-Coach of the Year after UCLA finished 13th in the nation.

In addition to Dorrell, Green Bay Packers quarterback coach Ben McAdoo will interview for the job, and former Tennessee Titans offensive coordinator Dowell Loggains and former Giants assistant Mike Sullivan have interviewed for the vacant offensive coordinator gig.
