Victor Cruz has joined the chorus of those who are endorsing the idea of Mike Sullivan becoming the next offensive coordinator for the New York Giants.
"I think it’s just his familiarity with our personnel, with our offense, the one we had. Obviously, he’s running a similar offense with Tampa Bay but I’m sure he’ll have some tweaks here or there," Cruz said during a promotional appearance for X Box. "I just think we need a refresher, I think, more so than people needing a whole big name. A refreshing face that we know, one we’re all comfortable with, and we can go from there."
Quarterback Eli Manning, wide receiver Hakeem Nicks and retired coordinator Kevin Gilbride have all spoken in recent days in favor of hiring Sullivan. The 46-year-old Sullivan was a Giants' coach from 2004-2011, coaching first wide receivers and then quarterbacks. He spent the last two seasons as offensive coordinator in Tampa Bay.
Reports indicated that both Sullivan and former Tennessee Titans offensive coordinator Dowell Loggains were interviewing with the Giants today.
