2014 BBV Community Mock Draft: With third overall pick Jaguars select ...

The critical domino in the 2014 Big Blue View Community Mock Draft, and in the real 2014 NFL Draft this May, is when the quarterbacks will start to come off the board. Well, in his role as GM of the Jacksonville Jaguars in our mock draft, 'NYG 28' has started that domino rolling downhill, selecting UCF's Blake Bortles for the Jacksonville Jaguars with the third overall selection.

'NYG 28' explains:

"Blake Bortles is the surefire pick here for the Jags. Owner Shahid Khan has already stated they are definitely taking a quarterback in the draft. Todd McShay said this week that Bortles is the first quarterback he'd take in the draft. Ron Jaworski listed Bortles as his number one QB as well. This move solidifies the most important position in the NFL for the Jaguars and sets them up to take more playmakers later in the draft."

Bortles is Mocking The Draft's second-ranked quarterback behind Teddy Bridgewater, though the quarterback rankings between Bortles, Bridgewater and Johnny Manziel are highly subjective. CBS Sports also lists Bridgewater ahead of Bortles on its Big Board.

Rankings aside, the fact that a quarterback is off the board -- and that it is Bortles -- does not surprise me in the least. The Bortles/Bridgewater/Manziel debate is one that, I think, is going to come down to personal preference among NFL GMs and scouting departments.

If this is the real pick for the Jags they can only cross their fingers that they haven't drafted Blaine Gabbert II.
