New York Giants' news, 9/4: Andre Brown roster move still pending

New York Giants' headlines for Wednesday, 9/4.

Jared Wickerham

Despite all of the back-and-forth on Tuesday, including his own tweets, the New York Giants have not yet placed injured running back Andre Brown on IR/Designated to Return. From all reports it is expected that they eventually do so. Ralph Vacchiano of the Daily News pointed out that the Giants could even wait until next week to make a roster move with Brown since either way he would not be eligible to play until Week 10 vs. the Oakland Raiders.

In the meantime the Giants have been busy working out or contacting veteran running backs. Vacchiano's report mentions Ryan Grant, Kevin Smith and Tim Hightower. Conor Orr of the Star-Ledger reported that the Giants Tuesday worked out Beanie Wells, Leon Washington and Jonathan Dwyer.

So, it seems almost certain that a move is coming at running back. It might, however, not happen until after Sunday's game against the Dallas Cowboys.
