Giants-Panthers Week 3 Inactives: Corey Webster won't play

Giants-Panthers inactives.

Brad Penner-USA TODAY Sports

Starting cornerback Corey Webster will not play today for the New York Giants due to a hip flexor. Here is the complete list of inactive players for the Giants today as they face the Carolina Panthers.

CB Corey Webster (hip), OL David Diehl (thumb), TE Adrien Robinson (foot), QB Ryan Nassib, RB Michael Cox, OL Brandon Mosley, DT Johnathan Hankins.

With Webster out, Aaron Ross will start at cornerback. With Cox inactive, that likely means David Wilson will return kickoffs for the second consecutive week.

Here are the Carolina inactives:

CB D.J. Moore, CB Josh Thomas, RB Kenjon Barner, S Quinton Mikell, CB James Dockery, DE Frank Alexander, DT Dwan Edwards.

The absence of so many defensive backs, along with the placement of starting safety Charles Godfrey on injured reserve, leave the Panthers depleted in the secondary entering today's game. As much as the Giants want to get some sort of run game established, a pass-heavy attack would not be surprising.
