EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. -- Manning Bowl III kicks off at 4:25 p.m. ET (CBS) Sunday afternoon. Eli Manning and the Giants (0-1) host Peyton Manning and the Denver Broncos (1-0) at MetLife Stadium, which you already know unless you have lived for the past week without any sort of television or Internet access.
It is only Week 2 of the 2013 NFL season, but this is a critical game for the Giants. Since 1990 0-2 teams have only made the playoffs 11.6 percent of the time. True, one of those was the 2007 Super Bowl champion Giants but 0-2 is not the recommended recipe for a team hoping to become the first to win a Super Bowl title in its home stadium -- which has been the Giants' loudly professed goal since training camp began.
The Broncos have won 12 straight regular-season game, the longest active streak in the NFL. Peyton Manning is 51 yards shy of joining Brett Favre and Dan Marino as the only players in NFL history to pass for 60,000 yards or more.
