Brandon Jacobs is back with the New York Giants, according to published reports. Mike Garafolo was the first to report the news, with this tweet:

The 6-foot-4, 265-pound Jacobs played for the Giants from 2005-2011, winning two Super Bowl rings and compiling 4,849 yard rushing in his seven seasons. He will reportedly sign later on Tuesday. Per Adam Schefter, the Giants have agreed to a one-year deal.

He left as a free agent prior to the 2012 season, signing with the San Francisco 49ers. Jacobs had injury problems, clashed with coach Jim Harbaugh and played in only two games with five carries before being released by San Francisco. He was out of the NFL until today.

The Giants need running back help as, until adding Jacobs, they had only three on their roster. David Wilson, of course, fumbled twice on Sunday night vs. the Dallas Cowboys and had issues in pass protection. Wilson, a second-year player, could benefit from the presence of a veteran who has succeeded in New York.

The Giants cleared space on the roster Monday by waiving Adewale Ojomo, a defensive end.

Thoughts, Giants' fans? Are you happy the Giants have apparently chosen Jacobs over Willis McGahee?
