As we await the official injury report on Wednesday, the status of Prince Amukamara remains up in the air. But as of Tuesday, it seems likely the New York Giants cornerback will be a go.
According to reports, the team expects Amukamara, who is dealing with a concussion, to suit up against the Denver Broncos, as long as he is able to pass the league-mandated protocol.
While addressing the media on Monday, head coach Tom Coughlin said Amukamara is feeling better and is not dealing with any lingering effects.
"He felt pretty good (Sunday) night, to be honest with you," Coughlin said. "He didn't seem to have any repercussions, but he does need to go through the protocol.
Antrel Rolle echoed what his coach said, adding Amukamara was walking around the team facilities smiling, though he would not make a prediction as to whether his secondary mate would play or not against Denver.
On Monday, The Post reported Amukamara's status was uncertain and it was likely he would not be available for Week 2. The report also suggested the team would add Charles James to the 53-man roster. James, a corner, would provide depth if Amukamara could not go. Aaron Ross would get the start opposite Corey Webster.
Having a healthy Amukamara on the field against the Broncos would be the first step toward stopping Peyton Manning and the top-ranked offense in the NFL. The Broncos lead the league in yards per game (510) and passing yards per game (445). In the season opener, Manning threw seven touchdowns against the defending Super Bowl champs.
