In an appearance on the "Morning Show" Thursday, former New York Giants running back Tiki Barber was asked to name the biggest confrontation he ever had in a locker room.
His response: Tom Coughlin.
Following a Nov. 20, 2006 loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars, Barber said he had an obscenity-laced argument with Coughlin when the running back said the team had "a pretty pitiful performance all the way around."
After he and Brandon Jacobs combined for 27 rushing yards, Barber added: "I'm shocked our running game could be this unproductive."
When Barber's quotes made it into the New York papers the next day, Coughlin's ears seemingly had steam leaking.
"Tom Coughlin comes into my meeting room and he has all these newspapers and throws them in my face," Barber told the "Morning Show." "Like physically, in my face ... 'What the F is this?' And throws them in my face."
Barber estimated a thousand F-bombs exchanged between him and Coughlin, an argument that lasted about 40 minutes.
Barber said he never tanked it while Coughlin was his coach, but a big issue with Coughlin's "my way or the highway" attitude.
"Tell me, 'do something because I say so?' I'm not going to accept that," Barber said. "On game day, I never had a problem with coach Coughlin. But personally, we did. We just didn't mesh."
