Andre Brown Injury: Running back suffers broken leg

Brown fractures same leg he broke a season ago.

Jared Wickerham

New York Giants running back Andre Brown suffered a fractured left leg Thursday night during the Giants' final preseason game against the New England Patriots. Brown was hurt on a carry late in the first half.

The injury is to the same leg Brown broke last season, missing the final six games.

Brown had been expected to share the running back load with second-year back David Wilson.

The injury leaves the Giants with decisions to make at running back. They have Da'Rel Scott, Ryan Torain and rookie Michael Cox. Do they go with what they have, or turn to the waiver wire? Former Giants Brandon Jacobs is one of many veteran running backs currently available. The Giants can't place Brown on IR with a designation to return until Tuesday, so they would first have to place him on the 53-man roster. If the Giants place him on IR now it has to be for the full season.

Giants' safety Tyler Sash suffered a concussion. Tight end Adrien Robinson had X-rays on his left foot, but there is no word on the extent of his injury.
