Aaron Ross: 'I knew it was a pick'

Ross ends up on the wrong type of highlight after botched interception ends up as Indianapolis touchdown.

After Sunday night's game against the Indianapolis Colts Aaron Ross has a shot at making one of SportsCenter's lists this week. Unfortunately for him it won't be the Top 10 list.

Andrew Luck led the Colts down the field and made a poor throw to Reggie Wayne in the end zone. Ross managed to get his hands on the ball, but the ball had a different idea as it slipped out of his hands and into Wayne's. Ross saw the golden opportunity come quickly.

"I knew it was a pick," said Ross.  "I saw it leave his hands and then as soon as I looked up the lights just took the ball away.  I couldn't see it anymore and that's what kind of made me fall.  As soon as I fell back it hit my hands and it kind of shocked me. One of those plays you can't get back"

Though Luck made that one poor throw he still schooled the Giants secondary. Prince Amukamara held his own, but it's pretty clear Antrel Rolle was missed.  The secondary was poor last season and appear they still have a lot of figuring out to do.

"We always have something that we can improve on," said Ross.  "We need to get off the field on third downs. I really don't know what the mental part of the game was. There was so much we did in the film room, but as far as us getting off the field we just need to do a better job of getting off the field and capitalizing on big plays."

Even though it's preseason the Giants' secondary has had it's issues for the last few years. Seeing them struggle last night is no shocker to fans.  Will they be ready for the season after one more preseason game?  Ross thinks so.

"That's what the preseason is for," said Ross. It's basically another practice, so it's one of those things where you make the mistakes here and learn from them so you don't make them when it really counts. We'll definitely be ready."

The Giants have their next preseason game against their stadium-mates the New York Jets on Saturday the 24th and their last on Aug. 29th against New England.  We will see if they're ready for Week 1 in Dallas.
