Here is a look at the snap counts data for the New York Giants in Sunday's 20-12 preseason loss to the Indianapolis Colts. Linemen Jim Cordle (42) and Brandon Mosley (36) played the most offensive snaps. Safety David Caldwell (34) played the most defensive snaps.

Can we glean anything else from these numbers?

For starters, the first-team offense played much more than the 20-25 anticipated snaps. Hakeem Nicks hung in there for 33 snaps in his first action of the preseason. The fact that he only got two snaps is probably bad news for undrafted free agent tight end Chase Clement.

Defensively, Jayron Hosley got 32 snaps as the Giants continue to try to assess his development. Marvin Austin played 25 snaps as the Giants give him every opportunity to make the 53-man roster.
