Antrel Rolle, carted off the practice field on Monday, was originally diagoxed with "nothing more than a sprained ankle," according to a published report.
Of course, the MRI results have not been released and nothing official has been reported. As Ralph Vacchiano of the Daily News wrote, "the Giants would be holding their breath" awaiting the MRI results.
There really is little use speculating about how long Rolle might be out or how seriously he is hurt. We just don't know right now. We will, of course, pass along whatever we learn as soon as we learn it.
Damontre Moore 'Pretty Comfortable' In Debut
Rookie defensive end Damontre Moore impressed everyone in his debut Saturday against the Pittsburgh Steelers. Except, apparently, himself.
"Watching film there were a lot of places where I was really close. I think that’s what motivates me more to get there and make the play. It doesn’t do anything but aggravate me more to know that I was that close and didn’t make the play. So it was my motivation."
Justin Pugh Back To Practice
First-round pick Justin Pugh returned to practice Monday after missing time with what he said was the first concussion he has ever had.
Pugh acknowledged that the time he missed was a setback, but said "I’ve just got to go out there and play. I really can’t control that now."
Pugh reportedly took some snaps at left tackle Monday. Prior to that he had worked exclusively at right tackle.
Tyler Sash Fighting To Stay With Giants
Third-year safety Tyler Sash, who has never been more a special teams player with the Giants, was impressive Saturday against the Pittsburgh Steelers. Sash helped his cause when it comes to making the roster, which might be even more important if Rolle's injury is significant.
"I’m approaching it the same way this year as opposed to last year," Sash said. "Obviously I wasn’t healthy and I missed the first four games (last year), so that didn’t help me out. This offseason I had surgery on both my ankles and it’s definitely helped me as far as running around and being able to move. Obviously playing safety and special teams, special teams is a whole nother game, it’s all just chaos the whole time and being able to change direction and stuff like that. Defense is a little more controlled, but with all the safeties I approach it the same way. Number 1, I’m healthy. I know what kind of football player I am and I know that I can help out on special teams or defense for any team in the league."
Middle Linebacker Competition
Various media reports indicated that Dan Connor split first-team reps with Mark Herzlich on Monday. Pat Traina's report indicated that Herzlich did not have a great practice on Monday.
Kevin Gilbride: 'We Teach Guys To Get Open'
"The Giants' passing attack has often been referred to as complicated. Offensive coordinator Kevin Gilbride begged to differ on Monday. ... it’s really kind of really simplistic in terms of the number of plays, it’s probably less than many offenses would have. In terms of the latitude that they’re granted on most plays, that’s where the sophistication comes in."
Practice Schedule
As usual, practice today at the Quest Diagnostics Training Center will be at 1:30 p.m. ET.
