Let's continue our look at the 90-man roster the New York Giants will bring to training camp by focusing on Trumaine McBride, a veteran player who is competing for a spot as a reserve cornerback.
2012 Season In Review
McBride is a five-year NFL veteran, but did not play in 2012 and has appeared in only one game (for the Jacksonville Jaguars) since 2012. He was with the Jaguars in training camp last season, but was released prior to the beginning of the regular season. A cornerback, he has played in 68 career games, starting 10.
2013 Outlook
McBride signed a reserve/futures contract with the Giants in January. The 27-year-old spent three seasons with the Chicago Bears and one each with the Arizona Cardinals and Jaguars. He will compete for a role as a reserve cornerback and special teams player. Provided the players the Giants are counting on remain healthy it seems difficult to see the 5-foot-9, 185-pound McBride making the 53-man roster.
