As we continue our player-by-player look at the 90-man roster the New York Giants will bring to training camp we focus here on massive offensive guard Michael Jasper, at 6-foot-4 and 375 pounds the biggest player the team currently has.
2012 Season In Review
After being cut by the Tennessee Titans during training camp, Jasper spent the season playing for the Omaha Nighthawks of the UFL. He played both offensive line and, because of his massive frame, was used as a nose tackle in third-and-short and goal-line situations.
Jasper was originally a seventh-round pick of the Buffalo Bills in 2011 and spent most of that season on the practice squad. He was placed briefly on the active roster, but never appeared in a game and was let go following the season.
2013 Outlook
Jasper faces an uphill climb in his effort to stick with the Giants. There are a number of drafted players and others who have more NFL experience in front of him. He will have to convince the coaching staff he is more than just a big body to have a chance to at least make the practice squad.
