The New York Giants hold their first practice of 2013 training camp at the Quest Diagnostics Training Center in East Rutherford, N.J. today. Here are 10 things to think about until practice begins ... and while I zoom down the New York State Thruway heading for the Meadowlands.
- Is this a last go-round for Tom Coughlin? The Giants head coach has said nothing about retirement and at 67 seems to have more energy than people 15 years younger -- like me. Yet Coughlin is the league's oldest coach and you have to wonder how much longer he will stick around.
- Is this a last hurrah for this team as currently constructed? Not only are the Giants loaded with players on one-year deals, they have many veterans who might be facing their final year with the team. The future seems uncertain for Corey Webster, Justin Tuck, Antrel Rolle, Hakeem Nicks, David Diehl and Terrell Thomas. If the 2013 season isn't a successful one is it possible that those players -- along with guys like Mathias Kiwanuka and David Baas -- might find themselves looking for work?
- There are still some who believe Perry Fewell will be a head coach one day, maybe even head coach of the Giants. He better figure out how to fix a defense that was awful in 2012 first, however.
- Will 'Uptown Murf' be right about Justin Tuck making a strong comeback? Or, will all the naysayers who think the Giants' defensive captain is done be proven correct?
- If the over/under on rushing yards for David Wilson in 2013 was placed at 800 yards, which are you taking?
- If the over/under on wins for the Giants was set at 9, which is pretty much their standard number, would you take the over or the under?
- What is your favorite move the Giants made this off-season?
- What is your least favorite move the Giants made?
- Which player will come out of nowhere to make an impact in 2013?
- The signing of fullback Ryan D'Imperio, who did not play anywhere in 2012 after playing with the Minnesota Vikings from 2009-2011, seems like a training camp move to give the Giants a little protection there and not force Bear Pascoe to take every rep.
