The New York Giants and TIMEX announced the end of a four-year partnership, both sides announced earlier Wednesday.
The divorce was labeled as mutual, according to team president John Mara.
"We appreciate the cooperation we've experienced in partnering with TIMEX over these past four years," Mara said. "This is an amicable and mutual parting, and we TIMEX all the best."
TIMEX has been the primary sponsor of the Giants' training facility in East Rutherford, N.J., so it appears a new name will be just in time for start of training camp.
According to the Sports Business Journal, which originally reported the split. a new sponsor of the health-care variety will be announced on Thursday. Among the potential sponsors are N.Y. Presbyterian and Hospital for Special Surgery and Rutgers University, which recently merged with seven of the University of Medicine & Dentistry schools as a part of the largest academic merger in U.S. history.
Health-care sponsors are common for NFL training camps, particularly in the NFC East. The Philadelphia Eagles' training facility is sponsored by NovaCare, while the Washington Redskins are sponsored by Bon Secours Health System. NorthShore University Health Care sponsors the Chicago Bears.
