As we continue our lplayer-by-player analysis of the 90-man roster the New York Giants have assembled as training camp approaches let's look at offensive lineman Chris DeGeare.
2012 Season In Review
DeGeare, a 6-foot-4, 335-pound guard, played eight games with five starts for the Minnesota Vikings in 2010. Minnesota drafted him in the fifth round that year. DeGeare had a -6.4 rating from Pro Football Focus in his limited time. He has not played in an NFL game since. He was released by the Vikings last season and spent the year on the Tennessee Titans practice squad.
2013 Outlook
The Giants signed DeGeare to a reserve/futures contract in January. The odds would seem to be stacked against the 26-year-old in his effort to make the Giants' 53-man roster. There simply are not a lot of openings, and there are several young players drafted by the Giants who would seem likely to get priority over a player like DeGeare.
