NFL hands Brandon Collins four-game suspension

The NFL has suspended New York Giants wide receiver Brandon Collins four games for violating the league's substance abuse policy.

Jim O'Connor-US PRESSWIRE

The NFL has suspended New York Giants wide receiver Brandon Collins four games without pay for violating the league's substance abuse policy.

Collins will be eligible to return to the active roster on Monday, Sept. 30, following the New York Giants game against the Kansas City Chiefs. He will be allowed to participate in all offseason and pre-season activities.

Collins, who was signed as an undrafted free agent out of Southeastern Louisiana last May, was still trying to crack the team's 53-man roster. This, however, may ultimately destroy his chances.

Collins was in Giants camp a season ago and spent less than a week on the team's practice squad. He finished his collegiate career at Southeast Louisiana after being kicked off the Texas team following an arrest.
