Let's continue breaking down the 90-man roster the New York Giants will bring to training camp by looking at Selvish Capers, an offensive lineman who will be competing for a spot as a reserve.
2012 Season In Review
The 2010 seventh-round selection by the Washington Redskins, saw the first regular-season NFL action of his career in 2012, getting into three games with the Giants. Prior to that, Capers had been on and off the Giants' practice squad a number of times since the Giants signed him Sept. 5, 2011 after he was waived by the Redskins.
2013 Outlook
The drafting of Justin Pugh in the first round and Eric Herman in the seventh, along with the return from injured reserve of 2012 fourth-round pick Brandon Mosley, could spell trouble for Capers in his effort to make the roster. NFL players can spend as many as three seasons on practice squads. Capers has already spent at least parts of three seasons (one with Washington, two with the Giants) on practice squads, so whether or not he is eligible is questionable.
