The New York Giants ignored the linebacker position in the 2013 NFL Draft, leaving it looking thin entering the 2013 NFL season. There has been plenty of speculation that the Giants might dip into the free agent market to supplement what they have at the position, and reports Monday night indicate that they may be taking a step toward doing just that.
The Giants are reportedly hosting free agent linebacker Aaron Curry, most recently with the Oakland Raiders, for a visit on Thursday.
The fourth overall pick in the 2009 NFL Draft by the Seattle Seahawks, Curry, 27, was released by the Raiders after playing only two games last season. He was unable to find work anywhere else during the season.
Curry, 6-foot-2, 255 pounds, has had a history of knee problems and has not had a sack in two seasons. He had 5.5 sacks his first two seasons with the Seahawks.
Taking a look at Curry carries no risk for the Giants. He may or may not be healthy enough to try and revive his NFL career. The linebacker-needy Giants are willing to find out. If he has anything left to give, the Giants seem like they could use it.
Thoughts, Giants' fans?
