2013 NFL Free Agency: Osi Umenyiora, Kevin Boothe rumors

New, comments

Osi Umenyiora could soon be a member of the Atlanta Falcons. The future of Kevin Boothe remains unknown.

USA TODAY Sports

Osi Umenyiora could be a member of the Atlanta Falcons by the end of the day, according to published reports.

Mike Garafolo of USA Today tweeted Wednesday that Umenyiora, the former New York Giants defensive end, was visiting with the Falcons. Umenyiora reportedly took a physical, an indication that the Falcons could be serious about bringing him on board.

Atlanta cut pass-rushing defensive end John Abraham recently in a salary-cap move. Umenyiora, 31, had six sacks last season and has 75 sacks in nine NFL seasons.

Kevin Boothe Rumors

ESPN New York says "The team wants to re-sign" Boothe, their starting left guard a season ago.

The problem is that the Giants have no cap room currently. The cap is $123 million, and Spotrac currently lists the Giants at $121,359,531, less than $2 million under the cap.

Reports have circulated that the Giants want to restructure the contract of David Diehl, but no agreement has yet been announced.
