The New York Giants are moving on from placekicker Lawrence Tynes. Jenny Vrentas of the Star-Ledger tweeted Wednesday morning the team will sign Josh Brown, a 10-year veteran. Tynes is currently exploring free agency and has previously been linked to the San Francisco 49ers.
Brown, 33, kicked in only four games last season, making 11-of-12 field goals and all eight of his extra-point attempts for the Cincinnati Bengals. In 2011 Brown kicked for the St. Louis Rams, making 21-of-28 field goals. For his career, he has made 231-of-284 field-goal attempts (81.3 percent). In his career Brown has made 29-of-45 field goals outside of 50 yards.
The Giants also have placekickers David Buehler, formerly of the Dallas Cowboys, and Jake Rogers, a rookie, on their roster.

The Giants are hosting linebacker Jasper Brinkley, formerly of the Minnesota Vikings, for a free-agent visit on Wednesday. Brinkley, 27, is a 6-foot-2, 252-pound run-stuffing middle linebacker. The 2012 season was his first as a starter for the Vikings. He had 99 tackles, 3 forced fumbles. and a Pro Football Focus score -18.6 (-13.4 pass), -2.5 vs. run. More on Brinkley later.
