The New York Daily News reported Saturday that the New York Giants are making a "late -- and possibly last -- push" to sign tight end Martellus Bennett before free agency begins officially on Tuesday. The Daily News said there is "no indication" a deal was at hand.

Bennett caught a career-best 55 passes for the Giants last season after coming to New York from the Dallas Cowboys on a one-year deal.

The Daily News speculated that the Giants might pursue free agent tight ends Anthony Fasano (Miami Dolphins) or Brandon Myers (Oakland Raiders) if they are unable to keep Bennett.

Meanwhile, there does appear to be a potential market shaping up for Bennett if he and the Giants fail to reach a deal. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have long been expected to make a play for Bennett. The Tennessee Titans are said to have "some interest" in Bennett. The Chicago Bears are another team said to be in the tight end marketn, with Bennett called the "most enticing' option.
