The New York Giants lead the Washington Redskins, 10-3, at halftime of Sunday's final game of the 2013 NFL regular season.
If nothing else, the game has thus far shown precisely why both teams will not go to the playoffs.
The first quarter end 0-0. The Giants had 37 total yards of offense and the Redskins had 40.
The Redskins finally broke the scoreless tie on a 31-yard field goal by Kai Forbath with 8:16 left in the half, taking a 3-0 lead. The score was set up by an Andre Brown fumble, which Washington recovered at the Giants' 18-yard line. The Giants now have at least one turnover in every game this season.
The Giants finally got on the board with 5:21 left in the half on a 24-yard pass from Eli Manning to Jerrel Jernigan. That capped a six-play, 75-yard, 2:55 drive. Jernigan has been the game's only truly effective offensive player with six catches for 90 yards.
The Giants extended their lead to 10-3 on a 34-yard field goal by Josh Brown with 1:38 left in the half.
A 49-yard field goal by Forbath following Manning's 27th interception made the score 10-6 with :04 left in the half.
Manning is 10-of-24 for 152 yards with a touchdown and an interception. He headed to the locker room with what looked like a foot or ankle injury immediately after the interception.
Washington's Kirk Cousins is 7-of-18 for 55 yards.
Injury Notes
Rueben Randle left the game with a knee injury, and won't return. He was bothered by that during the week. James Brewer is questionable to return at left guard with an ankle injury. Hakeem Nicks is questionable with an ankle injury, suffered when he was called for pass interference in the end zone late in the half.
