A New York Giants' season that began with hopes of becoming the first NFL team to play in a Super Bowl in its home stadium ends on Sunday, far short of that goal.
The 6-9 Giants will face the 3-12 Washington Redskins at 1 p.m. ET at MetLife Stadium as they conclude their fourth playoff-less season in five years.
"I wish we had some more to play," head coach Tom Coughlin said on Friday.
They don't, however. An 0-6 start pretty much guaranteed that this day would come earlier than they wanted. Instead of heading to the playoffs, they will play their final game of 2013 on Sunday, say goodbye to each other on Monday when they clean out their lockers and wait to see how significant the changes to the team will be for 2014.
