The New York Giants (5-9) open the week as 9-point underdogs for their matchup on the road against the uneven Detroit Lions (7-7).

The Giants have disappointed fans this season, with quarterback Eli Manning having one of the worst seasons of his career and leading the league with 25 interceptions. It looked like the Giants may get back into the hunt after winning four in a row to rebound from an 0-6 start, but since then the Giants have lost three of their last four games. The Lions looked to have their best shot to win the NFC North for the first time in 20 years after division rival Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers went down with a collarbone injury several weeks ago. The Lions have been unable to capitalize, however, and now will need help from the Chicago Bears and the Packers to have a shot to win the division.

The Giants are coming off one of their worst performances of the season, shut out at home 23-0 by the team with the best record in the NFC, the Seattle Seahawks. The Lions lost a chance this week to control their own destiny in the final two games when they lost at home to the Ravens off of a 61-yard field goal on Monday Night Football.

The Big Blue View Power Rankings have the Lions ranked 10 spots above the Giants, with the Lions at No. 14 and the Giants at No. 24. SB Nation's version of the rankings have both teams ranked in the same spot as the Big Blue View rankings.
