Coughlin: Hakeem Nicks to practice Wednesday for Giants

Giants' coach Tom Coughlin met the media Wednesday as the Giants turned their focus to Sunday's game against the Washington Redskins.

New York Giants' coach Tom Coughlin said Wednesday that wide receiver Hakeem Nicks, who missed Sunday's critical game against the Dallas Cowboys, with an abdominal injury, will practice on Wednesday.

Coughlin said only that "we're gonna see" how much Nicks is able to do.

Coughlin was asked about the fact that rookie Damontre Moore did not play any defensive snaps vs. the Cowboys. The coach sounded frustrated with the third-round pick from Texas A&M.

"We're trying," Coughlin said. "We're trying to get him in a position where he can play and contribute. Trying to make sure that he is prepared to make all the adjustments that are necessary over the ball so that we don't get some of the mistakes that we had in preseason. This is where it is.

"The sooner we can get him to that then we'll have another guy that we feel like can be a pass-rusher."

Coughlin said the offensive line will feature Kevin Boothe at center and James Brewer at left guard, which is the way the Giants finished Sunday's game after center Jim Cordle went down with what turned out to be a season-ending knee injury.

Coughlin said the injury to Cordle was "very unfortunate." He said the Giants put him on IR "in the best interests of Jimmy."

Asked about the struggles of Redskins' quarterback Robert Griffin III, Coughlin said "he's an exceptional young quarterback. We're working as hard as we can to figure a way to defend their team."
