The New York Giants (4-7) open as slight favorites on the road in a NFC East matchup Sunday against the rival Washington Redskins (3-8) as both teams fight to keep their now slim playoff hopes alive.

After many fans wrote the Giants season off at 0-6, the team went on a four-game winning streak and appeared to be climbing its way back into a possible division title in a week division. Two weeks ago, the Redskins sat at 3-6, the same record the team had last year when it won seven games in a row on its way to a NFC East title and playoff berth.
Unfortunately for both teams, it does not appear either will be able to pull out the hole they have dug themselves as they have done in the past, after losing key recent games. The Giants lost at home to the Dallas Cowboys 24-21 in a division game the team likely needed to have a playoff chance. The Redskins have lost their two most recent games in dominating fashion, losing at Philadelphia 24-16 in a game that was not as close as the score may indicate, and getting blown at home 27-6 on Monday Night Football by the San Francisco 49ers.
The Big Blue View Power Rankings have both teams ranked near the bottom of the league, with the Giants at no. 23 and the Redskins ranked at no. 28. SB Nation's version of the rankings agrees with the Redskins ranking of 28, but has the Giants one spot higher at no. 22.
