The Giants season was written off after they opened the season with six straight defeats, but the team known in the past for climbing out of a hole has won its last four contests to put them only a game and a half behind the NFC East leading Philadelphia Eagles. The Cowboys have been inconsistent all year, following up impressive wins with embarrassing defeats, but have yet to lose in the division this season. In the first match-up in Dallas, the Cowboys defeated the Giants 36-31 in the first regular-season game for both teams this year.

The Giants most recent win came over the Green Bay Packers, who had to play without its star quarterback Aaron Rodgers. The Cowboys are coming off of its bye week, but in the game before the bye week, the team was dominated offensively and defensively against the New Orleans Saints, losing 49-17.

The Big Blue View Power Rankings show the Giants continuing to rise, improving slightly from No. 18 to No. 17, although the Cowboys still sit a few spots ahead of them at No. 14. SB Nation's version of the rankings have the two teams ranked lower and closer together, with the Giants at No. 19 and the Cowboys ranked one spot ahead at No. 18.
