In a sloppy game it seemed neither team really wanted to win the New York Giants watched any hope they had of turning their season around go up in flames Sunday, losing to the Philadelphia Eagles, 36-21. The Giants are 0-5 for the first time in a non-strike season since 1979.

The game turned in the fourth quarter when Eli Manning was intercepted on three consecutive possessions. Manning has now thrown 12 interceptions in five games.

With 1st-and-20 at their own 41 following a Kevin Boothe holding penalty Manning was hit as he threw and linebacker Mychal Kendricks intercepted. On the next play Nick Foles, who played the second half in relief of Michael Vick (hamstring) hit Brent Celek for a 25-yard score to give the Eagles a 29-21 lead with 10:26 to play.

Manning threw another interception on the next series, this one when Brandon Boykin wrestled a ball away from Victor Cruz at the Giants' 38-yard line. That sent fans scurrying for the exits. Four plays later Foles passed 5 yards to DeSean Jackson to give the Eagles a 36-21 lead with 8:24 remaining.

The Giants' seemed poised to bid for their first victory of the season when they struck for back-to-back touchdowns in the third quarter to take a 21-19 lead.

First the Giants went 87 yards in 7 plays to pull within 19-14 with 6:58 left in the third quarter on a 26-yard pass from Manning to Randle. The drive took 3:44.

On their next possession they went 51 yards in 7 seven plays with a scrambling Manning finding Randle for a score that put the Giants ahead 21-19 with 3:46 left in the third quarter.

The Eagles regained the lead with an 8-play, 57-yard drive for a 41-yard field goal by Henery to make the score 22-21 with 1:04 left in the third quarter.

The Giants trailed 19-7 at the half.

The Giants have now surrendered at least 30 points in all five games this season.
