Hakeem Nicks will remain with the New York Giants, at least for the rest of the 2013 season. The NFL Trade Deadline, which was 4 p.m. ET Tuesday, has come and gone and the Giants did not deal the wide receiver.
The question now will be whether or not the Giants can keep the 25-year-old Nicks, a free agent at the end of the season, long-term.
General manager Jerry Reese had said earlier on Tuesday that the Giants would "keep all of our options open," but that they were not actively trying to trade Nicks.
The Giants signed Victor Cruz to a six-year, $45.8-million contract last offseason. Nicks is expected to command at least that much on the open market.
Nicks, in his fifth season, had 34 catches for 521 yards but has yet to catch a touchdown pass this season. Nicks has 289 receptions and 27 touchdowns in 58 career NFL games.
