Steve Weatherford and that 'ridiculous' punt play

Steve Weatherford could laugh today about the bad snap that resulted in a Philadelphia touchdown on Sunday.

Give New York Giants' punter Steve Weatherford credit for having a sense of humor. Weatherford admitted Monday morning on WFAN that he looked "ridiculous" trying to do something about the punt snap Zak DeOssie sailed over his head Sunday.

"It’s like a movie, you’re like ohhhh myyyyyy Godddddd," he said. "I felt like it took me a half an hour to get to the ball, you know what I mean?"

The play, of course, resulted in a touchdown for the Philadelphia Eagles, giving them a chance in a game the Giants appeared to have locked up.

All's well that ends well, though. The Giants came out victorious and, at 2-6, are somehow only two games behind the Dallas Cowboys in the NFC East.

It has been a rough year for Weatherford and the Giants' punt team, which has given up three punt return touchdowns of 80 yards or longer this season.
