Still winless, the New York Giants are preparing to the play the Minnesota Vikings on Monday Night. Leslie Frazier is seriously considering handing the keys to the Vikings offense over to Josh Freeman, who was cut by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers earlier this season.
The Dallas Cowboys are coming off a win over the Washington Redskins and will face another divisional foe this Sunday in the form of the Philadelphia Eagles. Led by the Nick Foles, the Eagles dismantled the Bucs, and it appears the second-year signal-caller will get the nod a second week against Dallas.
Dallas Cowboys
Tony Romo admitted he was already looking forward to his team's showdown with Philadelphia even before he beat Washington on Sunday night. The Cowboys quarterback calls the Eagles "a different opponent" in terms of what they're doing offensively, but said his team will be ready for the challenge.
It was a costly win for Dallas, though, as the team will be without running back DeMarco Murray and defensive end DeMarcus Ware. Without Murray, who is expected to miss at least the Eagles game, the team will turn to Joseph Randle and Phillip Tanner.
Defensively, replacing Ware is nearly -- if not -- actually impossible. The team is expected to sign Jarius Wynn, who was drafted by the Green Bay Packers in 2009 and has since been bouncing around the league.
Philadelphia Eagles
Foles played exceptionally in place of the injured Michael Vick on Sunday, and Bleeding Green Nation believes sticking with the second-year player is the right thing to do. BGN argues if momentum in the NFL exists, Chip Kelly must continue to start Foles. The only thing that could kill the Eagles' momentum would be a bonehead coach's decision or an opposing defense.
Philadelphia may be considering moving to a 12 personnel base offense. The team released its depth chart on Tuesday, which listed both Brent Celek and Zach Ertz as co-starters at tight end. In 12 personnel, the team would sport two wideouts, two tight ends and a running back -- a "best of both worlds" scenario that could help balance out the Eagles offense.
Washington Redskins
Mike Shanahan called the Skins' Sunday night loss the best effort by his defense thus far on the season. He said Robert Griffin III looked more comfortable, as he continues to recover from knee surgery. And the coach said at this time he is not considering any in-season coaching staff changes.
A season removed from an NFC East crown, the 1-4 Redskins are not doing their fan base any favors, according to Hogs Haven, which argued it's just hard to be a fan of the Burgundy and Gold. There some solutions, though, some logical and some a wee bit of a stretch.
The team can shuffle the offensive line, find another wide receiver opposite of Pierre Garcon or trade some late-round draft picks for a defensive player or perhaps another offensive lineman. But if the team wants to make a splash, it could trade away Brian Orakpo or Kirk Cousins for future picks, fire some coach's (such as Jim Haslett) and bring in a Bill O'Brien, fire Bruce Allen (to make the scapegoat) or just get a new uniform.
