Good morning, New York Giants' news and notes. Here are your links for Wednesday as the obits about the unsuccessful 2012 season continue and the speculation about 2013 gets started.

We begin today with something not about the Giants at all -- rather, it is about former Giants' defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo. Apparently, players with the New Orleans Saints, where Spagnuolo is currently running the defense have no use for him. Read on.

Steve Spagnuolo assailed by New Orleans Saints player -
An anonymous New Orleans Saints player said defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo should be fired, calling Spagnuolo "a control freak" who "treats people like crap," the Times-Picayune reported late Tuesday.

"Trust me, all the guys were being politically correct this season when answering questions," the player said. "It's bad."

Valentine's View: Wow! You never heard anything like that during Spagnuolo's tenure with the Giants. I have no idea how much truth there is to that, or if some of the bitterness is just because the Saints defense was historically bad in 2012. One thing is certain -- at least right now you are not hearing Spagnuolo's name connected to any head-coaching jobs.

The idea that the Giants’ championship window is closing anytime soon is silly. They missed the playoffs by one game, thanks to four losses by a touchdown or less. They are still a "relevant" team, as GM Jerry Reese said and not far off from being a Super Bowl contender.
