Doug Martin was selected one pick before David Wilson in the 2012 NFL draft and will be forever compared with Wilson (especially at Big Blue View). Martin received much more playing time in his offense in Tampa Bay rushing for nearly 1500 yards and finished the season with one more all purpose yard on the season, but it is Wilson who will bring home the first hardware.
David Wilson has been named to the 2012 AP All Pro's 2nd Team. No other New York Giants were named (or frankly probably even considered). Wilson flashed his ability as a kick returner often throughout the year and finished first in the league in kick return yardage (by about 300 yards), averaged 26.9 yards per return, scored one touchdown and punctuated it with his signature backflip.
Adrian Peterson and JJ Watt were unanimous selections. Joining Wilson on the 2nd All-Pro team are NFC East brethren: Jason Witten, DeMarcus Ware, and Alfred Morris.
Wilson didn't have a huge rookie year, but he'll always have this and he showed more than enough flashes to have most Giants fans convinced he has a very bright future.
