As we continue rolling out 2013 NFL Draft prospect profiles let's discuss a player who could be solid value in the third or fourth round. South Carolina safety D.J. Swearinger is an experienced, aggressive safety and the National Football Post says "Swearinger is a great pick up in the 4th round and should have a long NFL career for some team."

Pros

Swearinger is a physical player with experience at cornerback, nickel back and both safety spots. NFL.com says "He has played both free and strong safety, and his good performances as a spot duty at corner against big receivers suggests he has the potential to cover NFL tight ends in coverage well. He projects to be a day two pick."

Cons

A little short at 5-foot-11, and most reports indicate he will have to temper his big-hitting style at the NFL level. Speed isn't elite.

Does He Fit With The Giants?

I don't see why not, provided the Giants don't add a safety in the first couple of rounds. My guess is they will add safety depth at some point in the draft.

Final Thought

In its prospect profile of Swearinger, SB Nation says "Swearinger could have been considered one of those top names in other drafts, but he finds himself going slightly under the radar this year." He seems like a player who would be good value in the third or fourth round.
