The Big Blue View 2013 Community Mock Draft has reached the 28th pick of the first round, meaning the Denver Broncos are up. Playing the role of Broncos' GM is 'BleedBigBlue.' With the 28th pick, Denver selects ...

Bjoern Werner, DE, Florida State

'BleedBigBlue' explains:

The Broncos made some big moves since their heartbreaking double-overtime playoff loss to the Baltimore Ravens. They used the franchise tag on All Pro LT Ryan Clady, filled positions of need at LB, CB, OG, and WR during free agency. They also let Elvis Dumervil slip through their fingers in stunning fashion. Adding Werner would go a long way toward replacing the production lost by Dumervil's exit. Werner's 48 tackles (18 for loss) and conference leading 13 sacks in the 2012 season earned him ACC Defensive Player of the Year. Prior to the Combine, he was ranked among the top DEs in this year's class, but a poor showing in Indianapolis has caused him to slip some. If he is still available at this point though, I have to think that Elway won't think twice pulling the trigger on him.

In Werner, Denver is getting a guy who, though he lacks the physical characteristics (mainly length) to be considered a truly elite prospect, he more than compensates for it with quickness off the line, and instinctive play and a non-stop motor. NFL.com compares him to Osi Umenyiora, but based on what I've seen he should be a better run defender.

Valentine's View: Amazing that Werner has lasted this long in our draft. Any team that gets him at the tail end of the first round would have to be thrilled.
