The New York Giants selected Texas A&M defensive Damontre Moore in the third round of the 2013 NFL Draft, 81st overall. Moore joins second-round pick Johnathan Hankins of Ohio State as the Giants look to replenish their defensive line.
"I like Damontre Moore with his hand in the ground," said Matthew Fairburn of SB Nation's Mocking The Draft. "I thought he was over-valued throughout the process, but it's hard to argue with him as a third round pick."
Early in the pre-draft process Moore was considered a potential first-round pick, but he did not impress during the scouting combine or in his Pro Day.
Jesse Bartolis wrote his Moore prospect profile early in the pre-draft process, at a time Moore was considered a possible top 10 selection. The Sports Illustrated profile of Moore speaks to his inconsistency and questionable motor. The Giants, though, rarely miss on defensive ends.
The Giants, of course, lost Osi Umenyiora to the Atlanta Falcons in free agency and have veteran Justin Tuck in the final year of his contract.
