Someone will gamble on Tyrann Mathieu, the troubled ex-LSU cornerback formerly known as the 'Honey Badger,' during the upcoming 2013 NFL Draft? Will that team be the New York Giants?
Giants' cornerback Corey Webster, an LSU graduate, knows Mathieu and endorses the idea of the Giants bringing him in.
"Hopefully now, he’s learned his lesson and he can get to a club that can keep him on the straight and narrow," Webster said. "If I’m here (with Mathieu) I can help him right underneath my wing."
General manager Jerry Reese was asked about Mathieu during his pre-draft press conference.
"Obviously on the field he has been a good player. But obviously off the field he has had some off the field issues. Those have been well documented. So we will put all of the pros and cons together and see if he fits anywhere for us," Reese said.
If the Giants are unable to find value at the cornerback position in the first two rounds, would they consider Mathieu in the third?
Mocking The Draft ranks Mathieu No. 130 on its Big Board. CBS Sports ranks the 5-foot-91/2, 186-pound Mathieu 72nd overall.
Thoughts, Giants fans?
