As we continue or position-by-position analysis of the New York Giants depth chart leading into the 2013 NFL Draft let's look at wide receiver, where the Giants will have at least one new face among the backup receivers.

Off-season Moves
Veteran Domenik Hixon left the Giants via free agency, signing with the Carolina Panthers. The Giants also seem likely to part with Ramses Barden, an unrestricted free agent who does not seem to have much of a market at this point. The Giants signed speedy four-year veteran Louis Murphy, who caught 25 passes for the Panthers last season, to provide depth. There is also, of the course, the on-going situation with restricted free agent Victor Cruz. When that will be resolved in anybody's guess. The Giants are also monitoring the progress of Hakeem Nicks, who suffered through foot and knee injuries during a sub-par 2012 season.

Draft Possibilities
With the other areas that need to be addressed, and with 2012 second-round pick Reuben Randle ready for a larger role in the offense, it seems unlikely that the Giants would be tempted to use a first-round pick on a receiver. GM Jerry Reese does, however, like to stockpile potential weapons for quarterback Eli Manning. Thus, on Day 2 and especially Day 3 of the draft anything is possible.
Throughout the pre-draft process the Giants have been connected to wide receiver prospects Ryan Spadola (Lehigh), Trent Steelman (Army), Patrick Murray (Fordham) and Nick Williams (UConn). Among other intriguing late-round possibilities are Denard Robinson (Michigan) and Connor Vernon (Duke).
