The 2013 Big Blue View Community Mock Draft has sort of ground to a standstill while I enjoy myself in Myrtle Beach. I haven't completely forgotten you guys, or the mock, however. Here is the 26th pick in our first round, belonging to the Green Bay Packers. The GM for the Packers here is 'Giantstep.' With the 26th pick, Green Bay selects ...

Barrett Jones, C, Alabama

'Giantstep' explains:

The Packers need to protect their number one accent in Aaron Rogers. They may have been 15th in pass protection but Rogers was sack the most in the nfl. They also need a running game to help out his passing. Too many times teams would drop back seven with safeties deep because of no fear of a run game. Well Barrett Jones can play anywhere on the line they need him too. He is smart and has great character. He has played tackle center and guard positions in college. He comes from a pro type offense in college. He brings tenacity to the front line and attitude to their run game. I could have went running back with this selection but a running back is no good with out good linemen making holes for him. I believe Jones will have no problem starting week one in 2013. He does come with some injury concerns but he is worth it.

Valentine's View: I'm not sure most analysts see Jones as a first-round pick. A second- or third-round one, but not a first-rounder. Don't get me wrong, here. If the Giants don't take an offensive lineman in the first round, and maybe even if they do, I wouldn't mind seeing them grab Jones in the second round. He could end up at guard or center, and is a good player. He is No. 61 on the CBS Big Board and No. 27 (surprisingly high, according to most analysts) on the Mocking The Draft Big Board and No. 47 on the Draft Tek Big Board.
