2013 NFL Mock Draft: Todd McShay releases new mock

Todd McShay of ESPN has released verrsion 3.0 of his 2013 NFL mock draft, his first update since the conclusion of the 2013 NFL combine. McShay went with a selection of Notre Dame tight end Tyler Eifert for the New York Giants with the 19th overall pick, a move sure to split Giants' fans.

Here is how McShay explained the pick:

If [Alec] Ogletree were still available, he would be a great pick here. The Giants also could go with Fluker, but Eifert is a top tight end and would give Eli Manning another weapon in the passing game. Eifert's ball skills and ability to come down with the jump ball separate him from some other talented tight ends in this class.

Up until now mock drafts that have had the Giants choose a tight end in the first round (Eifert of Zach Ertz of Stanford) have generally proven unpopular. Maybe it is time to revisit that stance, however.

It seems increasingly possible that the Giants will lose tight end Martellus Bennett (55 catches in 2012) to free agency, leaving only Bear Pascoe and unproven 2012 fourth-round draft pick Adrien Robinson at the position currently.

In this mock, McShay has Ogletree, the Georgia linebacker, going to the New Orleans Saints at No. 14 and Fluker, the massive right tackle from Alabama, going to the Cincinnati Bengals at No. 21.
