Now that we are back on track with our 2013 Big Blue View Community Mock Draft let's move quickly to the ninth overall selection. That belongs to the New York Jets, and we have 'apingicer' playing the role of Jets' GM. His choice for Gang Green is ...

Dee Milliner, CB, Alabama

'apingicer' explains:

The Jets defense was bad in 2012-13. Don't let the eighth overall in yards per game fool you. They ranked in the bottom third of almost every major defensive category (Sacks, PPG, INTs, total points). Them being highly-ranked in yards per game, opponent's plays from scrimmage, and opponent time of possession, but -14 in turnover differential, just shows that the defense was put in horrible situations countless times by the offense. And living in the Jets TV area, we all could pretty much agree. But Rex Ryan is a defensive guy. And to his detriment, he will much sooner die than worry about his offense. Good luck, Mornhinweg!

As for the actual pick, how this guy fell to number 9 is beyond me. And if the Jets are intent on trading Revis before the draft, they can slide this guy in right next to Cromartie and Wilson. Dee Milliner is the pick here. Top-rated CB in the draft according to most. No brainer if he falls this far.

Valentine's View: This pick might be a 'no-brainer,' and it might not be. Our man 'apingicer' is right that Milliner still being available is a stunner, but this is the kind of thing that happens to the Jets. Trade their best defensive player, then draft a guy who plays his position because the defense wasn't good enough without him. Make sense? I guess it does in Florham Park.
