The Cleveland Browns go off the rail just a bit with their selection at No. 6 in our 2013 Big Blue View Community Mock Draft.

We have reached the sixth pick in our 2013 Big Blue View Community Mock Draft. That means the Cleveland Browns are up, with 'Thiergow' playing the role of general manager.

The choice for the Browns is ... Chance Warmack, OG, Alabama. [BBV Prospect Profile]

'Thiergow' explains:

For this pick I wanted to go a bit off the beaten track and avoid Ezekiel Ansah. Even though Ansah would be a great addition to the Browns, I don't see him as the best player available at this point. For me Warmack is one of the top 5 guys of this draft and if you believe some draft gurus, he might be THE best of this entire class. And when I hear people saying "you just don't draft a guard in the top 10", I respond "whatevah!". If the guy is talented enough to be picked at this point, I'm picking him, even if he is a kicker... well maybe not if he is a kicker but you get my point.

Warmack is not only the best player available, he is also a great fit for the Browns who need some help at the right guard position as Shawn Lauvao was the weakest link of the offensive line. Warmack is almost flawless in pass protection and he is a powerful road grader when run blocking. He could help open holes for former teammate Trent Richardson who struggled to find some daylight during his rookie campaign.

Another player who was considered for this pick was another Bama player (pure coincidence, I have no particular affection for Saban's boys): CB Dee Milliner. Also pretty talented and happens to address a need but I'm sticking with my draft board which ranks Warmack ahead Milliner.

Valentine's View: Warmack ranks third on the Big Blue View Big Board put together by Jesse Bartolis. He is ranked top 10 on many draft boards, in fact. Yet, I have a hard time seeing a guard -- a position not generally valued that highly -- being the sixth overall pick, even though it's one Draft Tek agrees with. Warmack goes 18th to the Dallas Cowboys in the latest SB Nation Mock Draft.
