In its latest 2013 NFL Mock Draft, released Monday morning, SB Nation has selected LSU middle linebacker Kevin Minter for the New York Giants with the 19th overall selection.
Minter is a player who has generally been selected later in the first round in the majority of mock drafts up to this point. In this mock, Minter goes to the Giants with Alec Ogletree of Georgia, Arthur Brown of Kansas State and Manti Te'o of Notre Dame still on the board.
SB Nation's Dan Kadar writes:
After releasing Michael Boley, the Giants' needs on the defense continue to grow. Minter specializes in working between the tackles and stopping the run. That's good for New York, one of the league's worst run-stopping teams.
CBS Sports says:
Minter's anticipation, penchant for the game-turning play and production against elite competition speaks for itself. However, he'll have to turn around a troubling trend for LSU linebackers in the NFL. Despite frequently churning out all-conference linebackers, few have gone on to enjoy similar distinction in the NFL.
Instinctive and physical, Minter was the most dependable player on an LSU defense chock-full of prospective NFL talent.
