2013 NFL Draft Prospect Profile: Dee Milliner, CB, Alabama

Alabama cornerback Dee Milliner, a player unlikely to remain on the board when the Giants select 19th in the 2013 NFL Draft, is the subject of today's prospect profile.

Streeter Lecka

I'm excited to introduce cornerback Demarcus Milliner with today's 2013 NFL Draft prospect profile because he really is the last prospect in the first round conversation that I just can't imagine falling to the New York Giants at No. 19 in any scenario. With the draft, however, you never know what can happen so it's still good to have done our due diligence.

Milliner was a very sought-after high school recruit and has been a good productive player since he stepped foot on the field at Alabama. Milliner has good size and great length. He's listed at 6-foot-1, 199 pounds. Milliner excels at playing the football in the air, is very well coached and does a good job of understanding route combinations by receivers. Milliner has exhibited good straight line speed.

Although Milliner is a willing tackler and plays physical he's not a great tackler. Milliner also needs to work on his backpedal because he was not asked to do that often at Alabama. Miller does not have elite quickness.

Does He Fit With The Giants?

Sure does. The question isn't whether or not he fits, but whether or not he'll be available. That looks unlikely unless he does terribly at the combine and his pro day.

Final Thought

Milliner is a top 10 prospect at the cornerback position He has everything you're looking for in a cornerback. He enters the league well coached. He has very good speed and size and he's physical. Every team will be interested in Milliner and he will probably come off the board before the Giants have a chance to draft him.
