With one preseason game in the books, the New York Giants return to training camp practices at Quest Diagnostics Training Center Monday at 1:30 p.m. ET. Here is a look at three things to pay attention to today, and probably all week as the Giants prepare for Sunday's second preseason game, a home contest vs. the Indianapolis Colts.
Linebacker Lineup
Will there be any changes in the lineup at this, the most fluid of all positions on the Giants' roster? Some analysts felt Dan Connor was more impressive than Mark Herzlich at middle linebacker Saturday. Aaron Curry was impressive on the strong side in limited time (12 snaps). Could Connor or Curry take more first-team reps this week? Spencer Paysinger seems solid on the weak side, but Jacquain Williams could also be in for a longer look. The Giants will do whatever they have to in an effort to improve the run defense, so anything goes here at this point.
Terrell Thomas, Chris Snee
These two veterans came off the PUP list last week, practiced on a limited basis and did not suit up Saturday night against Pittsburgh. Both should be in for increased duty this week.
For Snee, it's just a matter of getting enough time to be ready for Week 1 of the regular season. There is more at stake for Thomas, who has missed two straight seasons with ACL tears. He needs to prove he still has the physical skills to play corner, and that his knee, ravaged by three ACL surgeries, can stand up to the rigors of the NFL.
Roster Moves
The Giants will have to replace wide receiver Kris Adams, who fractured his leg Saturday night, on the roster. They may also have to replace offensive lineman Chris DeGeare, who suffered a knee injury Saturday. So, look for new names on the 90-man roster during practice Monday.
By the way, use this as your Open Thread to discuss anything that happens at practice.
